It’s funny that Fishers Hotel and the Atholl Palace is mentioned when the most of the newspaper coverage attributes Scotlands Hotel (incidentally all 3 are owned by same company now) as the employer of two hikers. Wouldn’t be hard to find existing locals who knew them. I was 16 in 1990’and Pitlochry is hometown
Hi Ali, I've never seen Scotlands Hotel mentioned in press coverage of the story. Please could you direct me to where you saw the hotel mentioned? Do you recognise the name Kevin Russell? Any help you could provide in locating and identifying the two 'hikers' , who we believe were summer workers in one of the hotel kitchens, would be much appreciated!
Yup, I’ll have search a bit and ask around. Trouble is everyone has a nickname up here as well. I can remember somebody doxing one of the guys with a picture on Reddit which was unfair but he was definitely a waiter in Scotlands.
I also work around Calvine and Struan during seasons(gardener) and both are in a dip and dont have that elevated position unless above the A9. If you were to walk a mile or two two to the east and up the hill you would be able to look down onto loch Tummel and Rannoch. Loch Errocty and Garry are further away.
There are still a fair few locals existing from 1990 and hotels are still the main employer in this tourist town. I’ll ask around about Kevin Russell and photo etc and any other names you may have
There is more info about it in there,I presume you have seen the film a person who worked there with the two chefs they disappeared after a visit by the men in black(MiB) never to be seen again these mibs seem to turn up often after UFO incidents to scare off witnesses,I wonder who they are and who sent them I find this part the most intriguing
The Men in Black (MIB) phenomenon has been a topic of fascination and fear, especially among UFO enthusiasts. These mysterious individuals, typically dressed in black suits, hats, and sunglasses, allegedly appear to witnesses of UFO incidents, often with the intention of intimidating or silencing them ¹.
Their true identities and motivations remain unknown, sparking a plethora of theories. Some believe they are government agents tasked with covering up UFO evidence, while others think they might be extraterrestrial beings disguising themselves as humans ².
Witness accounts describe MIBs as being extremely pale, with unusual physical characteristics, such as baldness, lipless mouths, or an uncanny ability to speak in a robotic tone ². Their behavior is often reported as being menacing, with some witnesses claiming they were warned not to speak about their UFO encounters.
Some notable cases include:
- *The Telepathic Encounter*: A man claimed to have been contacted telepathically by an MIB, who later appeared in person with two other men in black suits ².
- *The Men in Gray*: A witness reported being visited by two men in gray suits, who spoke in a flat, expressionless tone and had extremely pale skin ².
- *Albert Bender's Encounter*: A UFO researcher claimed to have been visited by three MIBs, who warned him to stop investigating UFOs ¹.
While the existence and intentions of the Men in Black remain unclear, their legend has become an integral part of UFO folklore.
It must have been stationary when photographed otherwise the fence would have been blurred. Unless the camera had a very fast shutter. Unlikely to have been set at this.
The plane must have been moving at the same speed as the object.

This craft has a unique shape, as far as I know.
It must have been stationary when photographed otherwise the fence would have been blurred. Unless the camera had a very fast shutter. Unlikely to have been set at this.
The plane must have been moving at the same speed as the object.
Very interesting. This story is a real puzzle
Excellent research and write up!
Thank you, much appreciated
That’s great
